hair salon Tempe

I get asked a lot of questions about hair at my hair salon in Tempe, but the one I am asked most frequently is how my clients can style their hair the same way I style their hair. After answering the same few questions over and over, I’ve made a list of some hair tips my clients have found helpful:

Take your time – Hair is something that people really care about, but they don’t spend enough time on. It’s okay to spend time on your hair! Adding 10 more minutes into your morning routine can make a world of difference. When flat ironing or curling your hair, slowly glide the tool through your hair at an even speed. Racing the flat iron over a section, large or small, will not be effective and you’ll also risk the integrity of the hair. Pulling and stretching the hair when you’re in a hurry is never a good idea either.

Get to the roots – There is no better look than flat hair at the roots and volume at the ends. Yes, round brushing helps, but sometimes all you need is to inch that flat iron just a little closer to your scalp for extra lift!

Use the right amount of professional hair products – When I show a client just how much root lifter, or hair spray, or straightening serum to use, they are usually surprised. Investing in high-quality, professional products recommended by a hairstylist who knows your hair ensures beautiful hair.

Do something – There is no such thing as a cute “wash and go” style. It will usually look bad in about an hour. Even a pixie needs attention … not to mention a lovely ponytail.

Style it – Start the day with well styled hair. If you style your hair as if you are going to wear it down, put some hairspray or finished products in it, and then pull it back, your hair will style much easier. It’ll have more bounce. It’ll have more “grip” with the bobby pins and a ponytail holder. Don’t just simply pull it back.

Pump it up – Blow dry upside down and finish with a “cool shot” of air all over. This is a quick and easy way to get lots of volume. The leading cause of hair falling flat throughout the day has much to do with the hair not being 100% dry to begin with.

Good styling to all of you! You deserve to look your best!
