Interesting Techniques
As a dedicated stylist for decades, I constantly learn new techniques to keep my work fun and your look fresh and exciting. Here are a few interesting techniques:
- Balayage is a French coloring technique that was developed in the 1970s. It’s a freehand technique where the color is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. Balayage can be used in even the shortest pixie crop; however, the best results occur in hair that falls below the shoulders. Many dimensions of color may be added for a natural look. Super fun, super beautiful and super shiny!
- Hair Chalking is an easy, quick, and inexpensive way for your salon professional to add temporary color or you can even do it yourself. It’s a one step process and there’s no need for pre-lightening the hair, since any color of chalk can be applied to any color of hair. So much fun!
- Peek-a-Boo Color is where color is applied underneath the majority of the hair, instead of right on top. It’s an ideal way of coloring the hair without seeing obvious outgrowth and it’s not that “in your face” color either. Subtle reflections of the color appear as your head and hair move.
- Pastels can be really fun for spring. Luscious Lavender, Blissful Blue, Too Cute Coral or just about any other shade you or your stylist can dream up can lighten your look and make a new haircut pop or freshen up a style you’re growing out. This funky look isn’t for everyone, but it can be a great way to start your year with some pizazz!
